THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that all the precautions will be taken to prevent the repeal of the crimes committed by the Adivasi youth in Atapaddi in Palakkad. The government will take action to ensure maximum punishment for all criminals in this case. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the opposition leader's submission to Madhu's murder case is a response.
Within hours of the incident, 16 accused were arrested from Coimbatore, Palakkad, Chavakkad and Thrissur. They were produced in court and remanded. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Vigilance) has been asked to investigate whether the forest officials are involved in the deaths and that they are cooperating to get into the forest. The report will be submitted within three days. Madhu's mother has been given Rs 10 lakh as special assistance from Chief Minister's relief fund. This money was immediately given to the family. An amount of Rs.8 lakhs will be released as per the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Prevention Act. The first installment was given the family the next day. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the money will be paid after the charge sheet is filed.
CM said that investigation is in progress in the loss of passengers from the baggage of passengers traveling at Karippur airport. An emergency meeting was held at the airport officials.
